What are neurotoxins?

Often known as Botox and Dysport target the underlying causes of frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines. These lines are caused by repeated muscle contractions from frowning, squinting, smiling and raising the eyebrows over the years. Your specialist will inject these muscles to temporarily reduce muscle activity. You will begin to notice your frown lines between your brows, your crow’s feet lines and your forehead lines temporarily look better.

Will my face look overdone or unnatural?

Neurotoxins deliver natural-looking results when you are treated by someone who is licensed, trained, and a medical expert in facial anatomy. So you’ll look like yourself – only with less noticeable lines. No one should be able to tell you’ve had anything done.

Is Botox/Dysport only for women?

Not at all! The number of men choosing treatments like Botox/Dysport has risen fast – in the past three years alone, men have received over one million botulinum toxin treatments. When surveyed, the majority of men say they wat to look good and they’re bothered by the changes they see in the mirror. 80% would choose to treat their crow’s feet first, while 74% would prioritize their forehead lines, and 60% would most like to treat their frown lines.

When should I start using neurotoxins?

It’s not your age that determines when is right for you, it’s the severity of your lines. In fact, 64% of plastic surgeons report seeing a rise in cosmetic surgery or injectable treatments for patients in their early 30’s. The truth is, everyone’s lines form differently. The timing can be influenced by a combination of factors, from cellular changes that may occur over time, to reduction of collagen, to genetic factors, or damage caused by free radicals from the sun and the environment.

How long is the treatment and will it hurt?

Your specialist will discuss your treatment goals and preform a facial analysis to determine the appropriate treatment areas for you. If you’re an appropriate candidate, the injection may take place on the same day. Some patients report that being injected for the treatment feels like a pinch. Treatment requires minimal downtime. So, you can return to your daily routine immediately after you leave.

When will you see results and how long does it last?

You may notice results within 24-48 hours, with full results in 30 days. (Most seeing results within 2 weeks). Results generally last up to four months for moderate to severe frown lines. Remember that results vary from patient to patient though.

Biostimulators (such as Sculptra) are indicated for use in people with healthy immune systems for the correction of shallow to deep nasolabial fold contour deficiencies, fine lines and wrinkles in the cheek region, and other facial wrinkles.

Sculptra is an injectable implant containing microparticles of poly-L-lactic acid that helps replace the lost collagen in the skin. It also stimulates gradual restoration of the collagen framework and is eventually broken down by the body.

Replacement and restoration of the collagen framework help to create a subtle, refined correction of wrinkles that lasts up to 2 years with high levels of patient satisfaction.

Where is Sculptra injected? Sculptra can be used in cheek wrinkles, nasolabial folds, pyriform fossa, marionette lines, pre-auricular wrinkles, submalar wrinkles, and chin wrinkles.

Kybella

Kybella is a prescription medicine used in adults to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin (submental fat), this is commonly referred to as “double chin

How does it work?

Kybella is a synthetic deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, Kybella destroys fat cells, resulting in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin. Once destroyed, these cells can no longer store or accumulate fat, so further treatment is not expected once you reach your desired aesthetic goal.

How many treatment sessions will I need?

Since everyone’s chin profile is different, the number of treatments varies from patient to patient. Your healthcare specialist will help determine how many treatment sessions you need based on the amount and distribution of the submental fat and your personal treatment goals. Each Kybella treatment session is given at least 1 month apart, and you should not receive more that 6 treatments. In clinical studies, 59% of patients received 6 treatments.

Will I need time to recover?

You will likely have some swelling, bruising, or numbness under your chin. Each individual varies.
